Nine Haredi Family Members Injured in Jeep Rollover Near Mitzpe Jericho
A serious jeep accident occurred near Mitzpe Jericho on Tuesday during a family outing over the intermediate days of the Jewish holiday. The vehicle, carrying nine members of a Haredi family, overturned, resulting in multiple injuries. Emergency services including Magen David Adom (MDA), United Hatzalah, and the IDF medical teams responded promptly to the scene.
Among the injured, a 17-year-old girl was critically hurt after being trapped inside the overturned jeep. She was rescued by paramedics, sedated, intubated on site, and evacuated by MDA’s air ambulance to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. Two other females, aged around 20 and 15, sustained moderate injuries, while six additional family members suffered minor wounds.
The other injured were transported by ambulances and intensive care units, with assistance from IDF medical personnel, to Hadassah Ein Kerem, Hadassah Mount Scopus, and Shaare Zedek Medical Centers. Paramedics described the scene as challenging, noting the jeep was found overturned in a ditch. They provided life-saving treatment to all nine victims before evacuation.
MDA paramedic Nadav Taib highlighted the critical condition of the 17-year-old girl, who was unconscious and trapped, suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. The coordinated rescue and medical response were crucial in stabilizing the victims and transporting them to hospitals for further care.
