Israeli Author and Academic Dr. Eyal Dotan Dies at 57

Dr. Eyal Dotan, an Israeli author, journalist, and cultural researcher, passed away at the age of 57. Born in Ramat Gan and residing in Tel Aviv, Dotan was a senior lecturer in the Department of Literature and the Interdisciplinary Arts Program at Tel Aviv University. He also taught comparative literature and contemporary thought seminars at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya. Dotan completed all his academic degrees, including a doctoral dissertation on the phenomenology of coincidences, at Tel Aviv University.

Alongside his academic career, Dotan was active in media and the literary scene for many years. He worked as a language editor for the newspaper Haaretz, contributed as a political columnist and cultural journalist for Ha'Ir, wrote literary and nonfiction reviews, and was a member of the editorial board of the journal Theory and Criticism. As an author, he published the novel "Etzem" (2012), which earned him the "With the Book" translation prize, and the novel "Together and Alone" (2017) through Yedioth Books.

Dotan is survived by his wife and three children.
