Assuta Opens Advanced Medical Center Ahead of New Hospital Launch in Rishon Lezion
Assuta Medical Centers is set to open a new state-of-the-art hospital in Rishon Lezion in early 2027, featuring advanced imaging technologies integrated with artificial intelligence and a specialized breast health institute. The new facility, spanning approximately 35,000 square meters near the Alef complex, will be nearly five times larger than the current Assuta hospital in the city and aims to significantly expand medical services for residents of the Shephelah, central Israel, and the south. The existing hospital will close upon the new hospital's opening, expected in February 2027.
The hospital will operate as a smart, paperless facility with advanced communication infrastructure, including 5G technology and robotic-assisted surgical rooms. It will offer both public healthcare services through Israel's health funds, with 85% of activity under public coverage, and private services for insured patients. The surgical department will cover a wide range of specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, urology, oncology, gynecology, bariatrics, ENT, pediatric surgery, spine surgery, and joint replacements, anticipating tens of thousands of operations annually.
The hospital will include seven protected operating rooms, an intensive care unit, recovery and inpatient wards, and specialized institutes such as dialysis, gastroenterology, sleep medicine, phototherapy, pulmonology, and ophthalmology. A dedicated fertility lab will employ continuous monitoring systems and patient apps for treatment tracking. All critical areas will be fortified according to Home Front Command guidelines to maintain operations during emergencies.
Three centers of excellence will be established: minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery, robotic joint replacement, and a one-stop-shop urology center for diagnosis and treatment under one roof. The imaging department will utilize AI-supported decision tools and low-radiation MRI and CT scanners, alongside a cutting-edge breast health institute offering 3D mammography, ultrasound, and MRI-guided biopsies.
The hospital's construction follows green building principles and includes underground parking, commercial areas, cafes, and a synagogue. It is expected to create over 150 new jobs and integrate dozens of additional medical specialists. At the opening ceremony of the first phase, "Assuta Experts" outpatient center, key figures highlighted the hospital's mission to provide compassionate, high-quality, and accessible healthcare. Assuta CEO Gidi Lasz emphasized the hospital's role in expanding advanced medical care accessibility, while Maccabi Health Services leaders praised the initiative as a transformative step for regional healthcare.
