Israeli Hero Benyahu Malt Wounds Attackers Despite Severe Injuries in West Bank Assault

A video analysis of the recent deadly attack in the Samaria region reveals the heroic actions of Benyahu Malt, deputy security officer of the Gilead Farm settlement, who despite being severely wounded managed to draw his pistol and shoot at the assailants before collapsing. The attack occurred last Friday near the Sela Ridge between Har Bracha and Givat Gilad, where dozens of Arab rioters assaulted hikers with stones and gunfire. Malt was called by the Samaria Brigade to assist after the attack was detected by IDF observation posts.

The footage, filmed by Arabs and analyzed by journalist Elchanan Gruner, shows Malt wounded in his upper body and with a shattered left hand, rising to fire multiple shots at the attackers, killing at least one and wounding others. Another participant, a Golani Brigade soldier on leave, also fired at the assailants to protect Malt, who was struggling on the ground as they tried to seize his weapon. Malt eventually managed to escape the scene despite his injuries and joined rescue forces.

The investigation is ongoing, with ballistic tests yet to clarify which weapons caused each injury amid the chaotic firefight involving multiple shooters. Malt’s widow, Esther, praised his bravery and called for full support for Israeli fighters to shoot without fear of investigations, urging the removal of the "murder village" Tel and the cancellation of the Oslo Accords to establish new settlements in the area where Malt gave his life.

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, hailed Malt as a hero who saved lives until his last breath and emphasized the community’s resolve to strengthen settlement building and defeat terror throughout Israel. Malt had been active in protecting the land and people, including assisting in firefighting efforts days before the attack.
