Trump Describes Positive Meetings with Netanyahu and Zelensky in Washington

Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his recent meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington were positive. Trump shared on his social media platform Truth Social that he discussed various important topics with both leaders but did not provide specific details. Regarding Netanyahu, Trump said, "Netanyahu and I, along with some members of the House of Representatives, had a very good meeting where many important issues were discussed." About Zelensky, he noted, "Many things were discussed, and the meeting went very well."

Netanyahu and Zelensky were in Washington to attend a memorial ceremony for Senator Lindsey Graham, a prominent Republican supporter of Israel and Ukraine. Netanyahu, in an interview with Fox News, described his meeting with Trump as one of their best, emphasizing a strong relationship despite critics looking for divisions. He highlighted their shared goal concerning Iran, stating it would be addressed either diplomatically or by other means. Netanyahu expressed skepticism about a deal with Iran, warning that if Israel is attacked, it will respond with overwhelming force.

Netanyahu also responded to comments by New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, who called for his arrest if Netanyahu speaks at the UN General Assembly. Netanyahu said he plans to travel to New York in September to "tell the truth" to what he called a "hate-filled mayor."

President Zelensky revealed in a Fox News interview that Trump agreed to grant Ukraine licenses for Patriot missile systems. Zelensky also met with representatives of major U.S. defense manufacturers and hopes to establish production partnerships. He updated Trump and U.S. senators on Ukraine's need for ballistic missile interception systems, noting Ukraine already has drones capable of destroying Iranian and Russian drones but requires additional weaponry to defend against ballistic missiles.
