Netanyahu Meets Trump at White House to Discuss Iran and Regional Security

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday during Netanyahu's two-day diplomatic visit to Washington. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half and was described by both leaders as positive and productive. The discussions focused primarily on strategic issues, especially the Iranian threat and various regional arenas.

Following the meeting, Netanyahu's office stated that both leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. They also emphasized strengthening the strong partnership between Israel and the United States and exploring political and regional opportunities in the Middle East.

The meeting took place in the Oval Office with an expanded delegation from both sides. The American delegation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Keane, and Middle East envoy Steve Whitkoff. The Israeli delegation featured National Security Advisor Samuel Ben-Ezra, Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter, Netanyahu’s Chief of Staff Edo Nordan, Military Secretary Guy Markizano, political advisor Ofir Falk, and Caroline Glick.

Ahead of the meeting, the White House maintained a low media profile, limiting press access and not scheduling a joint press conference. Trump had noted some differences with Netanyahu on Iran but said they were "pretty close." In a Fox News interview before the meeting, Trump warned that if a deal with Iran is not reached, the U.S. would bomb the Fordow nuclear site, adding he was well informed about the situation and did not see it as a major problem. Trump also said Netanyahu wanted to be involved in any potential strikes on Iran, but he did not think it was necessary.

Netanyahu flew to Washington from Nevatim Airbase and stated before the meeting that he would discuss all key issues with Trump, especially Iran, aiming to ensure Israel’s security and expand the circle of peace around the region.
