US Pressure Forces IDF to Evacuate Outpost from American Citizen's Home in West Bank

Following recent unrest in the West Bank, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intensified operations in Palestinian towns and villages, including the village of Turmus Aya near Ramallah. According to a report by Itay Blumental on Kan 11, IDF troops entered a house in Turmus Aya to establish a temporary forward outpost, referred to as a "defense house" by the IDF, previously known as "Almanat Kash." From this outpost, forces planned to conduct arrest raids and patrols in the area.

It later emerged that the house belonged to a Palestinian doctor who, along with his family, holds American citizenship. Despite a US flag displayed at the front of the house, the IDF ordered the family to evacuate and began using the building for military purposes. This action sparked outrage at the US Embassy in Israel. Embassy officials in Jerusalem reportedly pressured Israeli security authorities, leading to a swift directive for the IDF to vacate the premises.

American officials view the incident as another sign of the US administration's dissatisfaction with Israeli conduct in the West Bank. The US Embassy in Israel stated, "The US State Department places the highest importance on ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad." The IDF has not issued a response regarding the incident.
