IDF Withdraws From Palestinian Home After U.S. Embassy Protest Over American Citizen

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) canceled a plan to take over a Palestinian home in the West Bank following strong objections from the U.S. Embassy in Israel. The incident occurred in the village of Turmus Aya near Ramallah, where Israeli troops entered a building owned by a Palestinian doctor who also holds American citizenship. Despite the U.S. flag displayed on the property, the IDF forces entered, ordered the family to evacuate, and converted the house into a forward military post as part of "Widow's Mite" operations used for staging arrests and raids.

The U.S. Embassy expressed outrage over the seizure of the home belonging to an American citizen and pressured Israeli security officials to reverse the action. Shortly after, the IDF received orders to immediately vacate the premises. The U.S. State Department emphasized its high priority on protecting the safety of its citizens abroad in response to the event.

This operation was part of a broader IDF deployment in Palestinian towns and villages in Judea and Samaria following recent weekend unrest. Additional reports noted that combat engineering soldiers refused to provide security for police investigating an arson attack on a Palestinian home, and that masked assailants initially feared to be terrorists were identified as Jewish individuals.
