IDF Launches Probe Into Delayed Evacuation of Illegal Outpost in West Bank Village

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has initiated an investigation into its handling of recent events in the West Bank village of Kusra, following questions about the military's operational conduct. The inquiry will be presented to Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and will focus heavily on the timeline of evacuating an illegal outpost established by extremists within the village. It took 48 hours before the first evacuation was carried out, and after the outpost was reestablished, an additional 24 hours passed before it was evacuated again. The IDF will also review the actions of the troops deployed to the outpost who did not complete the evacuation.

Additionally, the investigation will examine the military's interaction with Palestinian families in Kusra, who were initially ordered to leave their homes but later permitted to return. The events began earlier this week when extremists set up the unauthorized outpost inside Kusra. IDF forces arrived only two days ago to begin evacuations, with the Central Command chief present. However, the outpost was quickly rebuilt. During the incidents, extremists were filmed blocking access to the village with large rocks, a move that sparked international outrage and condemnation from the U.S. government.
