Black Flags Raised at Sea of Galilee Beaches as Heatwave Approaches Israel

The Kinneret Cities Association control room announced that due to strong westerly winds, and following a joint assessment with the police, black flags were raised at the rescue stations along the Tzinberi, Berniki, and Shikmim beaches of the Sea of Galilee. Lifeguards are currently evacuating swimmers from the water to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Service issued a warning about a significant heatwave heading to Israel. The heatwave is expected to intensify starting Thursday and continue through mid-next week. The peak temperatures will occur from Friday to Sunday, marking the hottest days of the current summer so far.

During the heatwave, extreme heat stress is anticipated across the country. The highest temperatures are forecasted in the Jordan Valley, reaching up to 46 degrees Celsius. The Arava and Sea of Galilee areas will see temperatures between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius. The Golan Heights, northern valleys, Galilee, and Negev will experience 38 to 42 degrees Celsius, while the mountainous regions, coastal areas, and Shephelah will have temperatures ranging from 35 to 36 degrees Celsius. The public is advised to exercise caution, avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak hours, and increase water intake.
