Israeli Woman Denied Entry to UK After Mistakenly Marking Terrorist on ETA Form

Yuval Mizrahi, an Israeli nutrition and fitness instructor, was denied entry to the United Kingdom due to a clerical error on her electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) form at Ben Gurion Airport. Planning a trip to London with a friend to recover from the loss of another close friend to cancer, Mizrahi accidentally selected "terrorist" on the ETA application amid the stress and rush of check-in. Despite her fluent English, she misread a question related to criminal involvement and mistakenly clicked the wrong option.

Mizrahi immediately realized the error and informed her traveling companion, but attempts to correct the mistake through the automated system were unsuccessful. The system rejected her resubmission citing "deception," and neither the British embassy nor travel agencies could intervene, as the ETA process is fully computerized. Consequently, Mizrahi's friend proceeded with the flight alone, while Mizrahi was forced to return home, losing her 3,000 shekel plane ticket and enduring the trauma of returning with her luggage.

After sharing her experience on social media, Mizrahi discovered that others have faced similar issues, including native English speakers. To enter the UK in the future, she must now undergo a more complicated visa application process involving fees and paperwork, akin to applying for a US visa. Mizrahi described the ordeal as a frustrating bureaucratic maze caused by a momentary lapse under pressure.
