Israeli Woman Denied Entry to UK After Mistakenly Marking Terrorist on ETA Form

Yuval Mizrahi, an Israeli nutrition and fitness instructor, was denied entry to the United Kingdom after mistakenly marking herself as a terrorist on the UK's electronic travel authorization (ETA) form at Ben Gurion Airport. Mizrahi had planned a trip to London with a friend to recover from the loss of a close companion who died of cancer. Under pressure to complete check-in, she accidentally selected "terrorist" on the form, a mistake she attributes to a moment of stress rather than language difficulties, as she speaks fluent English.

Despite attempts to correct the error by resubmitting the application and contacting the British embassy, Mizrahi was unable to reverse the decision due to the automated system's strict rules. The embassy and travel agencies confirmed they had no authority to intervene in the computerized process. Consequently, Mizrahi's friend flew to London alone, while Mizrahi returned home, losing her 3,000 shekel plane ticket and enduring the trauma of returning with her luggage.

After sharing her experience on social media, Mizrahi discovered she was not alone; others reported similar issues with the ETA system, including native English speakers. To enter the UK in the future, she must now apply for a traditional visa through the embassy, a more complicated and costly process involving a 600 shekel fee and additional paperwork.
