Truck Overturns at Shaar HaGai Fuel Station, Injuring MK Ahmad Tibi’s Niece

A serious traffic accident occurred on Monday near the Shaar HaGai interchange on Highway 1, involving a truck that lost control and overturned at the entrance to a Paz gas station. The truck crashed into four private vehicles, causing significant damage and injuries. Among the injured was a 17-year-old young woman, the niece of Knesset member and Ta'al faction leader Ahmad Tibi, who sustained moderate injuries and was trapped inside one of the damaged cars. Emergency medical teams evacuated her to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for further treatment, including tests and ongoing care. Another individual was lightly injured and also taken to the hospital.

Dramatic footage from security cameras at the gas station captured the truck speeding into the station, losing stability, and overturning onto its side while crushing vehicles. Rescue teams from United Hatzalah and firefighters from the Beit Shemesh district responded promptly, performing complex hydraulic extrication to free the trapped young woman and provide initial medical aid. Police investigators from the Jerusalem district have begun examining the circumstances that led to the truck driver losing control.

Due to the accident's complexity and the need to clear the wreckage, the gas station was completely closed, causing severe traffic congestion on one of Israel’s busiest highways toward Tel Aviv for several hours. The incident adds to recent emergency events on Highway 1, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on this critical route.
