Toyota Hilux and KGM Musso New Pickup Trucks Launch in Israel with Key Differences

Toyota and KGM have introduced the latest generations of their pickup trucks, the Toyota Hilux and the KGM Musso, to the Israeli market. The ninth-generation Hilux, unveiled at the end of 2025, is priced between 310,000 and 360,000 shekels, while the second-generation KGM Musso, revealed earlier this year, is offered at 275,000 shekels for a single well-equipped trim.

The Hilux features a 2.8-liter diesel engine with mild hybrid support (48 volts), delivering 204 horsepower and 51 kgm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Fuel efficiency ranges from 9.8 to 10 km per liter depending on trim. The Musso is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine producing 202 horsepower and 45 kgm of torque, also with a six-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, achieving 10.1 km per liter.

In terms of cargo capacity, the Musso offers a slightly larger bed (1.61m long, 1.57m wide, 57cm high) compared to the Hilux (1.55m long, 1.54m wide, 48cm high). Payload capacities are close, with the Hilux carrying 1,035-1,065 kg and the Musso 1,000 kg. Both trucks can tow trailers up to 3,500 kg and have leaf spring rear suspensions. Off-road capabilities differ slightly: the Hilux has a rear differential lock, approach angle of 29 degrees, departure angle of 24 degrees, and 30.9 cm ground clearance; the Musso has an automatic mechanical rear differential lock, 30.6-degree approach angle, 24.5-degree departure angle, and 24.8 cm ground clearance.

The Hilux is available in three trims: Active Pro (310,000 shekels) with keyless entry, 9-inch multimedia screen, seven airbags, and advanced safety features; Adventure (330,000 shekels) adds a 12.3-inch screen, heated seats, wireless charging, and LED fog lights; and Sahara (360,000 shekels) includes leather upholstery, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree cameras, and JBL audio system. The Musso comes in one Premium trim with synthetic leather seats, heated front and rear seats, 12.3-inch screens, six airbags, and comprehensive safety systems.

Warranty coverage for both vehicles is three years or 100,000 km, with the Hilux offering an optional extended warranty up to 15 years or 250,000 km. Service intervals differ: the Hilux requires routine maintenance every six months or 10,000 km and oil changes every two years or 30,000 km, while the Musso's service interval is annually or every 10,000 km.

This launch presents Israeli consumers with two competitive pickup options differing in price, size, powertrain, and features, allowing buyers to select based on their specific needs and budget.
