Dacia Launches Affordable Automatic Hybrid 4x4 Models in Israel for Under 160,000 Shekels

Dacia has introduced new automatic 4x4 hybrid versions of its Duster and Bigster SUVs in Israel, marking the first time since the Suzuki Jimny import halt that affordable 4x4 vehicles are available under 160,000 shekels. The new Duster 4x4, imported by Frisbee, features a 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain from Renault-Nissan, combining a 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine with a 29-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. This setup allows the rear-wheel drive to disengage on highways to improve fuel efficiency. The Duster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, reaches a top speed of 180 km/h, and achieves a combined fuel consumption of 17.5 km/l. It offers six driving modes including snow, sand, mud, and off-road, with a ground clearance of 20.9 cm and a 439-liter trunk.

The Duster is available in three trims starting at 158,000 shekels for the base Adventure version, which includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch multimedia screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. The Ultimate trim from 168,000 shekels adds 18-inch wheels, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, and climate control. The top Discovery trim at 171,000 shekels includes heated steering wheel and front seats. Safety ratings show a modest 3 out of 5 stars in the 2024 European crash test, with six airbags and standard autonomous emergency braking.

The larger Bigster model, measuring 4.57 meters long with a 599-liter trunk, also features the hybrid 4x4 system and automatic transmission. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and has a similar top speed and fuel efficiency. The Bigster starts at 176,000 shekels for the Adventure trim and goes up to 191,000 shekels for the Ultimate SR with panoramic roof and two-tone paint. It shares the same 3-star safety rating in the 2025 European crash test.

While the Dacia 4x4 hybrids do not match the off-road prowess of the Suzuki Jimny, they offer accessible pricing and low running costs, making them competitive alternatives to Chinese hybrid 4x4s and Subaru models dominating the affordable 4x4 segment. The Dacia models provide a balance of hybrid efficiency and off-road capability, though safety remains an area for improvement.
