Explosion Sets Car Ablaze on Highway 65, Seriously Injuring One Man
A powerful explosion on Friday on Highway 65 near the Mushayirifa junction in Haifa District caused a car to catch fire and left two people injured. Passersby were shocked by the unusual incident, which drew rescue forces and Magen David Adom medics to the scene.
Paramedics gave first aid to a 51-year-old man who suffered multiple trauma injuries and was only partly conscious. A second victim was treated for light injuries. According to the report, the man in serious condition was evacuated to Emek Medical Center in Afula.
MDA emergency medics Muhammad Dyaif and Ronza Zarzur, who were among the first on scene, described receiving a report of a car explosion. “We arrived at the scene and saw the car burning and two injured nearby,” they said. They added that the 51-year-old was in a confused state and had suffered multiple trauma injuries.
Both injured men were taken in intensive care ambulances to Emek Medical Center for continued treatment. No cause for the explosion was given in the report.
