Israeli Police Arrest Man Suspected of Arson at Givatayim Japnika Branch

The Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District Police arrested a man in his 20s from Rehovot on suspicion of setting fire to the Japnika restaurant branch in Givatayim. The arson occurred in the early morning hours of July 12. Following the arrest, the suspect was transferred for interrogation and is scheduled to appear today at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a hearing on extending his detention.

This incident is part of a series of unusual attacks targeting Japnika branches across Israel. In recent days, there have been reports of explosive devices thrown at branches in Ramat Gan, Kiryat Ono, Afula, and Netanya, as well as gunfire directed at the Herzliya branch. While most attacks caused property damage, there were no casualties reported.

Barak Abramov, the owner of Japnika, has been publicly associated with the case, highlighting the ongoing security concerns faced by the restaurant chain amid this wave of violence. Police investigations have been ongoing since the arson, leading to the recent arrest as part of their efforts to curb the attacks.
