Israel and Lebanon to Discuss Expanding Pilot Zones in South Lebanon Next Week

The official explained that the working teams will concentrate on fully implementing the framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon. This includes broadening the pilot zone process, resolving remaining border issues, and advancing a comprehensive peace and security agreement. The U.S. official emphasized that the Israeli withdrawal from the initial pilot zone presents a real opportunity to progress on the ground by restoring Lebanese state authority through verified disarmament of terrorist organizations in southern Lebanon and building the necessary trust for future phases.

The experience gained from the initial pilot zones will help refine the implementation model for gradual expansion. The official stressed that the framework agreement is the only path to sustainable peace between Israel and Lebanon, and that full implementation serves the clear interests of both nations. The Trump administration remains committed to the success of this process, which builds on last week's meeting between Presidents Aoun and Trump.
