Between 10 and 12 Torah Scrolls Stolen from Jewish Center Near Paris

A serious and unusual theft occurred overnight in Levallois-Perret, a suburb near Paris, where between 10 and 12 Torah scrolls were stolen from the Jewish Community Center and synagogue (CCL). Initial reports indicate that two masked suspects broke into the building, likely via the roof, and quickly took the scrolls before fleeing the scene.

Following the break-in, members of the French Jewish Community Protection Service (SPCJ) arrived promptly to conduct a thorough search of the premises to rule out any further threats. Police bomb squad units also operated at the site as part of security protocols. The French police continue to investigate, collecting evidence, reviewing security camera footage, and examining a vehicle suspected to be connected to the crime.

The SPCJ's preliminary assessment suggests the theft was premeditated, with suspects possibly conducting prior reconnaissance and familiarizing themselves with the building and access routes.
