Israeli Police Arrest Three Suspects for Exploiting Deaf-Mute Romanian Workers
Israeli police arrested three suspects this morning, including a couple from northern Israel and a man from the center, on charges of exploiting and extorting deaf-mute Romanian workers. The suspects allegedly promised attractive jobs in Israel during 2022-2023. However, upon arrival, the workers had their passports confiscated, were housed in poor conditions, and were forced to beg against their will under threats. The money collected was transferred to the suspects. Additionally, the workers' families in Romania were pressured to send money to the suspects to retrieve the passports so their relatives could return home.
