El Al Launches New Safety Videos Featuring Gal Gadot and NBA Star Deni Avdija
After a decade with Lior Sussherd, El Al has replaced its long-standing safety video with a new series starring some of Israel's most internationally recognized figures, including actress Gal Gadot, NBA player Deni Avdija, actor Lior Raz, and model Rotem Sela. The airline aims to engage passengers more effectively and encourage them to pay attention to safety instructions before takeoff.
Unlike the previous uniform video, El Al produced about ten different versions tailored to specific flight destinations, incorporating AI technology to allow ongoing updates and content refreshment. For example, flights to Paris and London feature city-related backgrounds, while flights to Los Angeles include destination-specific recommendations. The safety instructions themselves, such as seatbelt use, oxygen masks, and emergency exits, remain consistent across all flights. Samsung collaborated on the production, with its products integrated into the videos. El Al crew members also appear in the videos to present some of the safety guidelines.
This move follows a global trend where airlines invest in high-quality, entertaining safety videos that resemble short films rather than standard briefings. British Airways, for instance, produced a video featuring historical characters adapting to modern safety rules and another comedic audition-style video starring British celebrities like Rowan Atkinson and Ian McKellen. Air France offers a virtual tour of iconic French landmarks combined with safety instructions, while Air India presents its guidelines through eight styles of classical and folk Indian dance filmed across the country.
El Al’s new safety videos will be introduced on its aircraft starting in August, aiming to enhance passenger engagement and safety compliance through innovative and culturally resonant content.
