Mentalist Slams El Al Safety Video as "Looks Like an Air Disaster"

Mentalist Nimrod Harel has sharply criticized El Al's new safety video, stating it "looks like an air disaster" and is "unwatchable." In a social media post, Harel lambasted the video's concept and execution, arguing that the crucial safety message has been relegated to the sidelines.

Harel clarified that his critique was not a personal or professional comparison to fellow mentalist Lior Suchard, who appeared in a previous El Al safety video. "Full disclosure: Suchard is a friend and I think his video was one of the best and smartest in this strange genre, but that's not related to the fact that the new video is simply unwatchable," Harel wrote. He praised Suchard's past video but reiterated his strong criticism of the new production, deeming it unable to hold the viewer's attention.

According to Harel, featuring well-known personalities cannot substitute for a creative and precise concept. "This is further proof that it's not enough to bring in famous names (tiredly, in this case), you need a brilliant idea," he added. He suggested that without such an idea, the result resembles a promotional clip for an entertainment show rather than an informative safety video.

Harel concluded his critique with a jab, stating, "And when there isn't one, you're left with another promo for the next star, only in the clouds. By the way, there's no safety there, they really managed to hide the element we gathered for." His comments raise the question of whether attempting to turn a safety video into a flashy show with familiar faces undermines its original purpose. For Harel, the answer is a definitive no, as the intended message struggles to reach viewers despite the celebrity appearances.
