New Song by Late Israeli Actor Alon Abutbul Released One Year After His Death

By דורית אסרף מזרחי
Translated & summarized from Kan News by baba
The story · English

On the first anniversary of actor Alon Abutbul's passing, a new song performed by him titled "In a Dream" was released to radio and digital platforms on Monday morning. The song was written by Abutbul himself and musically composed and produced by Moshe Daabul. It was recorded during one of Abutbul's visits to Daabul's studio in the village of Hararit in the Galilee. The release preserves the original recording without additional edits to maintain the authenticity of the work.

Artistically, "In a Dream" is an intimate and poetic piece exploring the boundary between reality and imagination, memory and presence. Throughout his career in Israel and abroad, music served as a vital personal outlet for Abutbul, expressing inner worlds not always visible on screen or stage. To mark the anniversary of his death, his family and creative partners sought to reveal this lesser-known artistic side and share his musical creation with the public.

Alon Abutbul, a recipient of the Ophir Award and the Jerusalem Film Festival Award, appeared in dozens of films both in Israel and Hollywood. His notable works include "Two Fingers from Sidon," "One of Us," "Lileside," "Nina's Tragedies," "Beaufort," and "Seven," as well as television programs and the West End musical "The Band's Visit" in London. On July 29, 2025, Abutbul collapsed after exiting the water at Bonyim Beach near Haifa. Despite resuscitation efforts by Magen David Adom, he was pronounced dead at age 60.
