Netanya to Name Street After Late Actor Alon Abutbul

The Netanya Municipality will honor the memory of the late Israeli actor and creator Alon Abutbul by naming a street after him in the city's Ir Yamim neighborhood. Abutbul passed away unexpectedly last summer at the age of 60 following a cardiac event.

This decision is part of the municipality's policy to recognize Israeli artists who have made a significant impact on local culture. City officials stated that naming the street is a small gesture to appreciate his extensive body of work and contributions to Israeli culture.

The official announcement will be made by Mayor Avi Selma during the opening ceremony of the "Asiteaz" International Festival for Children and Youth Theater. The festival, celebrating its 20th anniversary, will commence during the intermediate days of Sukkot at the Arik Einstein Cultural Hall, also located in the Ir Yamim neighborhood, known for its streets named after prominent cultural figures.

Abutbul was a leading actor in Israel with a rich international career, including roles in major films such as "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Two Fingers of Mint." He collapsed on the beach and died in July 2025.
