Netanyahu and Ariel Mayor Inaugurate Major New Neighborhood and Road Named After Netanyahu's Father

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ariel Mayor Yair Shitrit toured the new "Amirim" neighborhood under construction in the western part of Ariel on Tuesday. They inaugurated the main road of the neighborhood, named "Netanyahu Road" in honor of the late historian Professor Benzion Netanyahu, the Prime Minister's father. The Amirim neighborhood is the first phase of a large-scale expansion project in Ariel West, which plans approximately 12,000 new housing units. This development aims to triple Ariel's current population of over 22,000 residents, with city leaders projecting growth to more than 50,000 within the next decade and an ultimate goal of 100,000 residents.

During the ceremony, Netanyahu expressed his excitement about the city's growth, emphasizing that Amirim will provide homes for young couples, reservists, and public servants. He highlighted the significance of naming the road after his father, who dedicated his life to studying Jewish history and strengthening the nation. Both leaders planted an olive tree along the new road as a symbol of continued growth and rootedness in the land.

Mayor Shitrit described the expansion as a national statement, positioning Ariel to become a central metropolitan hub in the Samaria region. He thanked Netanyahu for his ongoing support and open communication, underscoring the city's ambition to absorb tens of thousands of new residents and strengthen its status as the capital of Samaria. The inauguration marks the beginning of a transformative era for Ariel and the surrounding area.
