Netanyahu Pledges to Build Hospital in Ariel During University Visit
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Ariel University on Tuesday, where he announced plans to establish a hospital in the city. During his visit, Netanyahu toured the university's medical school and its healthcare facilities, including the child development unit, rehabilitation center, and the Shapell Mental Health Clinics. He was briefed on the ongoing medical, therapeutic, and rehabilitative activities, as well as future plans to expand healthcare services in the region.
This visit marked a significant milestone for Netanyahu, who had previously participated in the 2017 cornerstone laying ceremony for the medical school alongside his wife. Nine years later, he returned to see the now operational medical school and regional medical center. The visit concluded with a ceremony at the medical school building attended by Netanyahu, university leadership, the mayor, and other guests.
In his speech, Netanyahu emphasized the development of medical services and higher education in the area, highlighted support for reservists, and reiterated his intention to build a hospital in Ariel. Ariel University President Professor Ehud Grossman welcomed Netanyahu, recalling his presence at the 2017 ceremony and noting the progress made since then. Grossman described the university's unique integration of medical education, professional training, and healthcare services, crediting donors including Professor Miriam Adelson, the late Sheldon Adelson, and the Helmsley Foundation for their contributions. He also expressed gratitude for Netanyahu's longstanding support of the university, the city of Ariel, and settlement efforts in the West Bank.
