Netanya Street to Honor Late Actor Alon Aboutboul

The Netanya municipality will name a street after the late Israeli actor Alon Aboutboul, who passed away over a year ago. The street will be located in the Ir Yamim neighborhood, where streets are already named after Israeli artists. Mayor Avi Selma announced the decision, stating that Aboutboul is being honored for his extensive contributions to Israeli culture.

The commemoration will be officially announced at the opening of the 20th International Festival for Children and Youth Theater 'Asitej' in Netanya during the Sukkot holiday. Dudu Selma, a city council member and initiator of the honor, highlighted Aboutboul's legacy of creativity, excellence, perseverance, and love for culture.

Aboutboul, a prominent and successful actor in Israel and internationally, died unexpectedly in July 2025 at the age of 60. He reportedly collapsed after swimming at an unannounced beach near Neve Yam and Habonim Beach, having felt unwell after exiting the water.

Throughout his career, Aboutboul starred in numerous memorable Israeli films and television shows, including "Two Fingers of My Hand," "One of Us," "The Disasters of Nina," "Beaufort," and "Seven." He also achieved significant international success starting in the late 1980s, appearing in productions such as "Rambo III," "Twin Peaks," "The Dark Knight Rises," and "London Has Fallen."
