Activists Protest Former Shin Bet Chief Yoram Cohen Over Amir Ben Uliel Torture Allegations

Activists from the "Justice for Amir" campaign protested outside a private event hosted by Yoram Cohen, former head of the Shin Bet and current candidate for the Yashar party in the Knesset. The protest took place on Sunday in Omer, where activists demanded answers from Cohen regarding the interrogation and torture allegations in the Amir Ben Uliel case. They carried signs criticizing Cohen's conduct during his tenure as Shin Bet chief and called on him to address the use of torture to extract confessions, including from a minor.

During the event, protesters shouted questions at Cohen, demanding transparency about the interrogation methods used under his leadership. The activists accused Cohen of serious human rights violations, citing court rulings that invalidated most confessions in the case due to rights violations and torture. They argued that someone responsible for torturing detainees should not be eligible for a Knesset seat.

In recent weeks, the "Justice for Amir" activists have been attending Yashar party events across Israel, including in Binyamina, Holon, Modiin, and Dimona, to press Cohen for accountability. The campaign emphasizes the importance of upholding human rights and calls on voters to reject candidates implicated in such abuses.
