Israeli Election Committee to Recruit 100,000 Workers Ahead of Voting Day

Starting next week, the Israeli Election Committee will begin recruiting approximately 100,000 workers to staff polling stations for the upcoming elections. This large-scale recruitment effort, set to commence on August 3, comes amid concerns raised by the Shin Bet chief and the chairman of the Election Committee about potential threats to election integrity. Among the key roles to be filled are 35,000 polling station secretaries and 14,000 election integrity supervisors. These workers will start their shifts at 6:30 a.m. and remain until the vote counting is complete, with salaries ranging from 2,300 to 3,000 shekels per day before tax.

Candidates must be adults who have completed 12 years of education and have not been members of any political party in the past three years. They will also undergo preliminary training and an interview with the regional committee. In addition to these workers, thousands more will be recruited through political parties to serve as their official representatives at polling stations. The recruitment drive aims to ensure a smooth and transparent election process in light of warnings from President Isaac Herzog and Shin Bet head David Zini about risks to the election's fairness.
