Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa Seeks Security Agreement with Israel Amid Regional Tensions

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa told Al Jazeera that Syria is working toward a security agreement with Israel involving multiple countries. He emphasized that Syria avoids conflict with Israel and aims for a comprehensive peace without relinquishing its claim to the occupied Golan Heights. Al-Sharaa expressed concern about the regional war's spread and highlighted efforts to stabilize Lebanon through cooperation with its government, stressing that Syria supports Lebanon's state monopoly on weapons and decisions over war and peace. He noted a slowdown in implementing an agreement with the Kurds but affirmed continued trust and the establishment of a committee to manage missing persons cases according to international standards and with experienced countries' cooperation.
