Israeli Police Arrest Additional Suspect in Violent Musli-Jarushi Crime Feud

The violent conflict between the Musli and Jarushi crime families in Israel has escalated to dozens of violent incidents involving grenade attacks and shootings across the country. Over the past two weeks, 16 suspects have been arrested, including crime boss Yossi Musli. This week, police detained another suspect whose arrest was extended. The feud reportedly began over extortion demands involving millions of shekels, with both sides deliberately targeting each other's interests. Jarushi members focused attacks on businesses linked to Musli associates, while Musli's faction targeted branches of the Jafnika convenience store chain, believed to be connected to the Jarushi family.

The police chief reprimanded the commander of the Kinneret district after a grenade was thrown at a Jafnika branch in Rosh Pina, highlighting a security lapse when a police vehicle left the scene shortly before the attack. The police have launched a comprehensive operation led by the police commissioner himself, deploying multiple elite units and extending efforts internationally to apprehend suspects abroad. Despite these efforts, some detainees have been released by courts, while others remain in custody.

In a related incident, a man was arrested on suspicion of throwing a grenade at a residence in Herzliya, part of the ongoing feud. The grenade reportedly failed to explode on the first attempt and was thrown again until it detonated. His detention was extended by a Tel Aviv court, though his lawyer claimed the arrest was baseless and intended for publicity.

Amid the violence, the U.S. Embassy in Israel issued an unusual security warning advising American citizens to avoid areas in Tel Aviv and Herzliya affected by the crime family clashes. This alert is notable as such warnings are typically reserved for broader security threats rather than criminal incidents. Earlier attempts at mediation, including by a well-known footballer, have so far failed to quell the violence.

The police emphasize their commitment to stopping the feud and protecting public safety, stating they will continue to target the criminals financially and operationally until the violence ceases.
