Netanyahu Calls Saudi Arabia Joining Abraham Accords a Historic Leap for Middle East Peace

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks regarding Saudi Arabia's potential accession to the Abraham Accords. In an English statement, Netanyahu emphasized that the joint military actions by Israel and the United States against Iran's regime and its terror network have created an opportunity to expand the circle of peace in the region. He described Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords as a "historic leap forward for peace in the Middle East," echoing President Trump's sentiments. Netanyahu concluded his statement with the phrase "peace through strength."

Earlier the same day, President Trump announced that a civilian nuclear agreement being developed between the U.S. Department of Energy and Saudi Arabia would only be approved if Saudi Arabia joins the Abraham Accords. Trump clarified that the agreement pertains solely to peaceful civilian uses and does not include uranium enrichment. The U.S. officially announced a cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia to provide comprehensive assistance in developing a civilian nuclear program. The agreement is set to last 30 years and will allow American companies to finance and build nuclear power plants in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, a monitoring mechanism will be implemented directly by the U.S. government rather than the International Atomic Energy Agency.
