Zvehill Rebbe Leads Special Sabbath Gathering Near Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City

This past Sabbath, hundreds of followers of the Zvehill Hasidic dynasty from Bnei Brak gathered in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City for a unique spiritual event. Traditionally held during the period of Bein HaMetzarim, the Rebbe chose to move the gathering to Shabbat Nachamu to unify all his Hasidim in one location. The prayers took place at the Western Wall and in the Porat Yosef Yeshiva hall, creating a deeply uplifting atmosphere.

The event was part of a broader series of commemorations and mourning rituals observed by various Hasidic groups during the Three Weeks and Tisha B'Av period, marking the destruction of the Temple. Other notable gatherings included the Dzhikov Rebbe of Givat Ze'ev praying tearfully at the Western Wall, and the Kretshnif-Sighet Rebbe’s pilgrimage to European gravesites of righteous figures. In Jerusalem and abroad, Hasidic leaders and communities engaged in prayers, lamentations, and calls for redemption.

These spiritual activities were accompanied by emotional speeches and traditional customs, such as the wearing of special garments and communal recitations of kinnot (lamentations). The events reflected a collective yearning for the rebuilding of the Temple and the coming of the Messiah, with many participants moved to tears. The Zvehill Rebbe’s initiative to hold the Sabbath gathering near the Temple site underscored the centrality of unity and holiness in these observances.
