Hapoel Be'er Sheva Agrees to Sell Kings Kangwa to Panathinaikos

Hapoel Be'er Sheva announced on Friday that they have finalized the sale of Zambian midfielder Kings Kangwa to Greek club Panathinaikos. Kangwa, who was named the Israeli Premier League Player of the Season last year, will still participate in the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifying second leg match against Vikingur before traveling to Greece for medical tests and to complete his signing. The transfer fee is expected to be 3.8 million euros, with potential bonuses that could raise the total to 4.5 million euros.

Kangwa, 27, had been close to joining AEK Athens, but the Greek champions requested that he not play against Vikingur to avoid any conflict in the Champions League qualifiers. After he appeared in the match in Norway, AEK withdrew from the deal, allowing Panathinaikos to quickly secure the transfer. Kangwa leaves Be'er Sheva after two successful seasons, during which he scored 29 goals and provided 19 assists in 83 appearances across all competitions, helping the club win the State Cup, the Israeli Premier League title, and the Super Cup.

Be'er Sheva had anticipated Kangwa's departure and explored potential replacements throughout the summer. Kangwa is expected to help Panathinaikos compete for their first Greek league title since the 2009/10 season.
