Samaria Council Head Calls for Military Operation and New Settlement After Terror Attack Near Givat Gilad

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, spoke to Channel 7 from the scene of a deadly terror attack near Givat Gilad, where Benyahu Malt was murdered. Dagan eulogized Malt as a devoted family man and pioneer of the settlement movement who repeatedly risked his life to protect others. He described the area as suffering from a continuous wave of terror, citing recent arson attacks, attempted attacks, and a previous attack near Elon Moreh.

Dagan urged the Israeli government, specifically the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, to launch a broad military operation targeting the village from which the attackers originated, similar to past IDF operations in northern Samaria. He also called for establishing a new settlement near the attack site as a Zionist and settlement response to the violence. The council head noted that no specific warnings were received before the attack but emphasized the need for extensive action against terror infrastructures to prevent further incidents.

In addition, Dagan expressed support for the IDF, Border Police, and all security forces currently operating in the area. He confirmed that the council is coordinating with security agencies and assisting the family of Benyahu Malt during this difficult time.
