Israeli Police Seize Over 7 Kg of Drugs Hidden in Taxi on Highway 65

Israeli police forces from the Romach unit stopped a suspicious taxi on Highway 65 near Wadi Ara during a routine operation. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a large quantity of drugs concealed inside, including over one kilogram of suspected cocaine and approximately six kilograms of suspected marijuana. The significant amounts suggest the drugs were intended for wide distribution.

The suspect, a resident of Segev Shalom, was arrested at the scene and taken for interrogation at the Jisr az-Zarqa police station. Following the initial investigation, the court extended his detention until the upcoming Sunday to allow further inquiry. All seized substances were sent to the Israeli Police forensic laboratory for testing and confirmation.

The Israeli Police emphasized their ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and organized crime, aiming to disrupt distribution networks and protect public safety. This seizure adds to a series of successful operations in recent months, including the interception of about 70 kilograms of hashish destined for export to Jordan and continuous efforts to locate and destroy illegal drug cultivation sites across the country.
