Opposition MK Hili Tropper Declares Support for Zionist Governments, Rejects Mansour Abbas

Opposition Member of Knesset Hili Tropper announced in a Channel 14 interview that his newly formed party will support any Zionist government, regardless of traditional right-left political divisions. Tropper emphasized that his primary criterion for joining a coalition is its Zionist character, not the identity of its leader.

When asked about the possibility of supporting a right-wing government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, Tropper declined to commit based on Netanyahu's leadership alone, stating he refuses to be bound by the Netanyahu question. Instead, he stressed that any government he supports must be Zionist in nature.

Tropper was unequivocal in rejecting any government coalition that includes Mansour Abbas, chairman of the Ra'am party, stating such a government would not be considered Zionist. He clarified that at the time of government formation, a coalition must have a Zionist majority of at least 61 seats, and his party will be part of such a coalition.

The interview took place shortly after the October 7 events, highlighting the heightened political sensitivities in Israel. Tropper's stance signals a potential shift away from traditional bloc politics toward a focus on ideological alignment regarding Zionism in government formation.
