MK Hili Tropper Calls for Broad Zionist Government Excluding Non-Zionist Support

MK Hili Tropper has advocated for the formation of a broad Zionist government after the upcoming elections, emphasizing that he will not support a government reliant on the current coalition. In an interview with the Knesset Channel, Tropper stressed the need for unity among all Zionist factions, urging them to rise above political considerations and focus on the country's needs. He clarified that his stance is not solely about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but reflects a broader worldview. Tropper stated he would not accept Netanyahu forming a coalition with 61 seats supported by non-Zionist parties, but also refused to subordinate his entire outlook to the pro- or anti-Netanyahu debate.

Responding to Netanyahu's recent call for a "broad Zionist government," Tropper criticized the prime minister for including ultra-Orthodox parties and lawmakers who supported the exemption law for draft dodgers, which he does not consider Zionist. He described such statements as cynical and politically motivated ahead of the campaign. Tropper defined a true Zionist government as one based primarily on shared security burdens, including those willing to fight together in Gaza and Lebanon.

Regarding Otzma Yehudit leader Itamar Ben-Gvir, Tropper said that while Ben-Gvir's voters are Zionist, additional conditions must be met for inclusion in the government. These include respecting the rule of law and maintaining Israel's international relations. Tropper concluded by emphasizing that the next government should be founded on national responsibility and cooperation among all Zionist forces, rather than political camps or personal interests, with the fundamental basis being a Zionist government.
