Amos Gitai Premieres New Film at Venice International Film Festival

The Venice International Film Festival announced its artistic lineup for its 83rd edition, featuring renowned directors including Danny Boyle, Martin McDonagh, Florian Zeller, Nanni Moretti, and Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai. Gitai will premiere his ninth film at the festival, "The Road to Jericho," a travel diary blending time and memory with characters from his previous works. The film will be screened out of competition.

Representing Israel further, the festival will showcase "It Will Happen Tonight," directed by Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti and based on Eshkol Nevo's novel "Hungry Heart." This marks Nevo's second collaboration with Moretti after their 2021 Cannes contender "Three Floors."

The festival opens on September 2 with Danny Boyle's "Ink," about Rupert Murdoch. Other notable films include Martin McDonagh's dark comedy "Wild Horse Nine," Florian Zeller's psychological thriller "Bunker," starring Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem, and Lance Oppenheim's "Primetime" featuring Robert Pattinson. Documentaries include Alex Gibney's "Musk" about Elon Musk and Stephen Knight's "Don’t Look Back In Anger," chronicling the reunion of the band Oasis, with Noel and Liam Gallagher expected to attend the premiere.

Maggie Gyllenhaal will serve as the festival's jury president, while George Clooney and Alan Arkin will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. The festival concludes on September 12 with Giovanni Veronesi's "Dio Ride." Additionally, the trailer for "Avengers: Rise of Doctor Doom" and Tom Cruise's new film by Iñárritu were revealed.
