Jerusalem Officials Demand Police Action After Harassment and Prostitution Reports in Nahalat Ahim

Residents of the Nahalat Ahim neighborhood in Jerusalem have reported a series of disturbing incidents including voyeurism, sexual harassment, and trespassing during nighttime hours. According to multiple testimonies, women and young girls have been harassed by men dressed in ultra-Orthodox attire who allegedly peered into private homes, severely undermining residents' sense of security.

In addition to these reports, locals claim that an apartment in the neighborhood is operating as a brothel, attracting drug use, noise disturbances, and criminal activity. Despite repeated complaints to the police, residents say the neighborhood's safety has deteriorated. One neighbor was reportedly sexually harassed, intensifying community concerns.

Following these developments and a recent murder in Nahalat Ahim that heightened fears, Jerusalem's Deputy Mayor Yossi Havilio urgently appealed to the police and municipal authorities to increase patrols and enforcement. Havilio emphasized that it is unacceptable for women to fear being watched inside their own homes and demanded a thorough investigation of all incidents. He also called for enhanced police and municipal supervision, improved street lighting, and installation of surveillance cameras.

The police confirmed receiving complaints related to the neighborhood and stated they take all harassment and voyeurism reports seriously. They assured that efforts to identify suspects are underway and that police presence in Nahalat Ahim will be increased to restore public safety.
