Sderot Launches Subsidized Housing for High-Tech Workers Offering Up to 141,000 NIS Annual Savings

A new residential project dedicated to high-tech employees is being launched in Sderot, backed by a 15 million NIS investment from the local municipality and the Tekuma Authority. The initiative aims to attract experienced high-tech workers by offering significant financial benefits, including rental subsidies and a community designed to support their lifestyle. According to the project data, a single high-tech worker can save at least 87,000 NIS in the first year, while a dual-income couple working in the sector could save up to 141,000 NIS annually.

Applicants must meet specific criteria, including a minimum of five years’ experience in the high-tech industry and a gross monthly salary of at least 31,858 NIS. Additionally, candidates should not have lived in the Tekuma region during the past year. The housing complex, named "Sderot High-Tech," will feature at least 70 furnished apartments ranging from two to four rooms, alongside shared workspaces and leisure areas.

The government will subsidize rent on a declining scale: 75% in the first year, 50% in the second, and 25% in the third. Notably, participants are not required to relocate their jobs to southern Israel and can maintain employment elsewhere. Sderot serves as a pilot location, with tenders forthcoming to select management bodies for the project. Concurrently, plans are underway to develop a dedicated high-tech park in the city.

Aviad Friedman, head of the Tekuma Authority, described the project as innovative and pioneering, emphasizing its role in rebuilding the region by attracting residents who will contribute to the local economy, employment, education, and leisure opportunities.
