Jason Blaize Convicted of Premeditated Murder of Girlfriend in Tel Aviv Court

The Tel Aviv District Court convicted Jason Blaize of the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, Yelena Greenberg, in August 2022. The court rejected all of Blaize's claims, including provocations by the victim, citing numerous contradictions and inconsistencies in his testimony. It found that Blaize planned Greenberg's death in advance and stabbed her more than ten times to ensure the murder was completed. After the attack, he moved her body to an open area, poured gasoline over her, but did not set her on fire for unknown reasons.

According to the indictment, Blaize, a resident of Bat Yam, had tried for years to turn his friendship with Greenberg into a romantic relationship, which she repeatedly refused. Frustrated by her rejection, he decided to kill her. Two days before the murder, Blaize drove Greenberg from her home in Rishon Lezion to various locations in Rehovot. On the way to her sister's apartment, he stopped at a train station parking lot in Rehovot, where he stabbed her in the neck, back, and hands, causing her death. Despite her screams, he continued until she was silent.

After the murder, Blaize discarded both his and Greenberg's phones during the drive back home. The prosecution stated that the conviction sends a strong message against violence toward women, emphasizing the severity of premeditated murder motivated by rejection of a romantic relationship. Blaize faces a mandatory life sentence for the crime.
