IDF Airstrikes Eliminate Armed Terror Cell in Southern Gaza Amid Ongoing Operations

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday evening that their forces operating in southern Gaza identified and targeted an armed cell from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) group. The militants were seen transferring weapons into a vehicle intended, according to the IDF, for attacks against Israeli forces in the area. Shortly after the identification, the IDF conducted an airstrike on the vehicle and its surroundings to neutralize the immediate threat to troops on the ground.

The IDF spokesperson released footage showing the reconnaissance by paratrooper unit soldiers and the subsequent aerial strike on the vehicle. This operation is part of a series of recent targeted killings and thwarted attacks carried out by the IDF and Shin Bet within Gaza.

Earlier on Tuesday, the IDF and Shin Bet announced the elimination of Adham Ibrahim Shaaban Nesman, head of operations for Hamas's Gaza City brigade, who allegedly led the October 7 attack from Gaza into Israel. Nesman was reportedly involved in holding several hostages, including Romi Gonen, Emily Damari, Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Matan Angrist, and Omri Miran.

Additionally, the IDF confirmed the killing of Asma Kamal Shahda Abu Tim, a Hamas squad commander implicated in the abduction and killing of Nurit Kuper, Amiram Kuper, and Alexander Danzig from Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 massacre. Abu Tim continued to orchestrate terror activities against Israeli forces and civilians in recent months.

The IDF emphasized that Southern Command forces remain deployed in accordance with existing agreements and will continue to act against any immediate threats to Israeli troops.
