Trump Pledges Significant Support to Lebanon Amid Abraham Accords Talks

US President Donald Trump met with Lebanon's president on Tuesday evening to discuss Lebanon's future and its potential integration into the Abraham Accords. Trump praised the Abraham Accords as a "tremendous success" and expressed his belief that Lebanon holds a very important place in the region. He acknowledged the severe crises Lebanon has faced over many decades and promised substantial American assistance, stating, "We will help them a lot."

The meeting coincided with the launch of an American-backed plan in several pilot areas in southern Lebanon. This plan involves the Lebanese army deploying in territories vacated by the Israeli Defense Forces to ensure that Hezbollah does not operate there. Lebanese officials are seeking to advance further Israeli withdrawals, alongside efforts to disarm Hezbollah and strengthen state institutions.
