Father Suspected of Son’s Murder in Ramla Released Without Charges

Aharon Saadia, who was detained for nearly a month on suspicion of murdering his son Shimon in Ramla, was released by police on May 31, 2026, under restrictive conditions without any charges filed against him. The investigation initially focused on Aharon after Shimon was found shot dead on May 15, with police ruling out suicide and suspecting foul play. Despite the arrest, Aharon consistently denied involvement, claiming his son’s room was locked from the inside and that Shimon had committed suicide.

The police investigation revealed that the gun found near Shimon’s body was disabled and non-functional, casting doubt on the initial theory. Aharon’s defense attorney, Avi Cohen from the Public Defender’s Office, welcomed the release and emphasized the father’s difficult emotional state, mourning his son. Cohen stated that after filing two appeals, the police released Aharon without indictment and expressed hope that the authorities will solve the case and bring the real perpetrator to justice.
