Father Suspected of Strangling 3-Year-Old Son in Jerusalem Killing

Police have completed the investigation into the death of a 3-year-old boy from Jerusalem, and the father is now the main suspect. According to the investigation, the man allegedly strangled his son to death using a plastic bag. The prosecution is expected to file a declaration of intent against him on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, followed by an indictment in the coming days.

The case began on June 6, when authorities received a report about a toddler from Ras al-Amud in East Jerusalem who was brought to a city hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, he died. Police said the autopsy did not by itself strengthen suspicion of an unnatural death, but investigative steps later pointed to the father.

Over the past several weeks, investigators questioned the father, and police say he became linked to the allegations and even reenacted the acts attributed to him. His detention has been repeatedly extended by the court. After the declaration of intent is filed, prosecutors are expected to seek his remand until the end of proceedings.
