Israeli police have completed the investigation into the death of a 3-year-old boy in Jerusalem, and suspect the child’s father of suffocating him with a plastic bag. The suspect was tied to the act during questioning and reenacted it, according to the findings reported Tuesday morning.
The case began on June 6, 2026, when police received a report that a toddler had been taken to a Jerusalem hospital in critical condition. Despite the medical team’s efforts, the child was pronounced dead, and police opened an investigation into the circumstances of his death.
Over the past weeks, investigators repeatedly questioned the father until they say he connected himself to the killing and recreated the events. The inquiry led police to suspect that he used a plastic bag to suffocate his son to death.
In the coming days, police plan to file a prosecutorial statement ahead of an indictment and request that the father remain in custody until the end of legal proceedings.
