Jerusalem Mother Indicted for Severe Abuse and Injecting Harmful Substances into 5-Year-Old Son

A 23-year-old woman from East Jerusalem has been indicted for severe abuse of her 5-year-old son, including injecting him with dangerous substances while he was hospitalized. The indictment was filed on Sunday by the Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office following an investigation that began after the child was admitted to Shaare Zedek Medical Center, reportedly after ingesting a cleaning agent. Medical staff noticed an unusual deterioration in the boy's condition that did not align with his medical status, prompting further inquiry.

Investigators uncovered evidence suggesting the mother injected prohibited and harmful substances into her son's body during his hospital stay, significantly worsening his condition. The probe revealed this was not an isolated incident; the mother allegedly harmed her son previously by administering medications that led to his hospitalization. In the current case, she is suspected of injecting a disinfectant while he was under medical care.

Following the completion of the investigation and collection of evidence, the prosecution submitted a statement of charges against the suspect. Her detention has been extended until July 30, 2026, when the prosecution plans to formally file charges and request her continued detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
