Police have finished investigating the killing of a 3-year-old boy from Ras al-Amud in East Jerusalem, and prosecutors are expected to file a declaration today, Tuesday, against the father. Investigators say the man is suspected of choking his son to death with a plastic bag.
On June 6, 2026, police received a report that a toddler had been brought to a Jerusalem hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, the child was pronounced dead, and detectives opened an inquiry into the circumstances of the death.
Although the autopsy did not strengthen the initial suspicion that the death was unnatural, investigators increasingly focused on the boy’s father. Over the past weeks, the father was questioned until he linked himself to the act and reenacted it, according to the investigation.
Police say the suspicion is that he used a plastic bag to strangle his son. In the coming days, prosecutors are expected to submit an indictment and ask that he remain in custody until the end of legal proceedings.
