Father Suspected of Son's Murder in Ramla Released After 27 Days Without Charges

After 27 days in custody, Aharon Saadia was released today under restrictive conditions without any charges filed against him, nearly a month after being suspected of murdering his son, Shimon, in Ramla. Saadia's defense attorney, Avi Cohen from the Public Defender's Office, maintained throughout the hearings that Saadia denied shooting his son. Cohen stated after the hearing, "The suspect was unfortunately held for 27 days on suspicion of murdering his son. Following two appeals I submitted, the police released him without filing charges. We proved that another person shot the deceased, and I hope the police will apprehend that individual."

Initially, the case was investigated as a suicide after Shimon's body was found with gunshot wounds on May 15. The father, who called the police to report his son's death, claimed the door to the room was locked from the inside and that his son took his own life. However, police rejected this version, especially after it was revealed that the gun found near the body was disabled and non-functional. As the investigation progressed, evidence emerged that shifted suspicion toward homicide rather than suicide.

The covert investigation began mid-May, and despite the initial assumption of suicide, the new findings led to the father's arrest at the end of last month. With Saadia's release and no charges filed, the case remains an unresolved mystery as authorities continue to seek the true perpetrator.
